UKRAINE AND CENTRAL ASIA IN NEW GEOPOLITICAL REALITIES: GEOECONOMIC AND GEOSTRATEGIC ASPECTS

Abstract:
This article outlines the general features of partnership formation between Ukraine and the states of Central Asia after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The relationship between subjects is characterized in the context of social and political transformations in Ukraine, connected with the Revolution of Dignity, the annexation of Crimea and aggression of Russia in the east of our country. The geopolitical aspect is based on the analysis of official statements and tendencies of the political dialogue of Ukraine with the governments of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The attention is focused on the results of the UN resolution in terms of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and face-to-face contacts between leaders at the bilateral level. The geoeconomic aspect is formed on the analysis of trade and economic cooperation dynamics since 2011 within the Commonwealth of Independent States Free Trade Area so far. On the basis of analysed material, balanced and efficient geostrategy is offered to strengthen the relations between Ukraine and Central Asia, taking into account the interests of each of the subjects. The very essence of it is described at two levels. The first level consists of an interaction of Ukraine with the geopolitical region in the realities provoked by Russia; includes strengthening of communications, bypassing her territory and using the available developments of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and an identical way for supplies of energy carriers. The second one provides the direct cooperation with each state of the region to increase in circulation of goods and services and a possibility of implementation of general or national infrastructure projects. The considerable emphasis is placed on the cultural and humanitarian cooperation of the countries and the role of diasporas in an improvement of relationship and strengthening of national security.
